Our Partners
In addition to the research activities conducted within schools participating
in the Massage Therapy Research Consortium (MTRC), the MTRC as a whole also
partners with other institutions, providing massage expertise to researchers
and to those engaged in integrated healthcare settings. Typically the work
is completed by a small committee of educators with relevant expertise. To
date we have engaged in the following partnerships:
Harvard Medical School Integrative Care Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital - In late 2003 MTRC was engaged to consult on the development of a Massage Scope of Service document for a new integrative clinic, as well as drafting delineation of privileges documents for massage therapists hired to work at the clinic
Group Health Cooperative Center for Health Studies - to date MTRC has worked with Group Health on two projects:

- In 2004 MTRC reviewed the intervention protocol for a study on massage for chronic neck pain; Principal Investigator: Dr. Karen Sherman
- In 2005-06 MTRC developed the intervention protocols for a study comparing two forms of massage for chronic low back pain. Principal Investigator: Dr. Dan Cherkin
